Ignez – Tides

ignez-tidesAfter four years of releases, the Dutch Berlin-based producer Ignez has released his first LP Tides on the Belgian label Token Records.

The label has released music by artists such as Oscar Mulero, Escathon, Surgeon, Planetary Assault Systems and many more, and can be surely considered a top class techno label in a very prolific and rich scene.

Ignez also runs his label Somov Records, with which he has released his music as well as that of other artists such as Hitam, +plattform, and Sterac.

In Tides, we can listen to a classic (and classy) atmospheric and refined techno music having a minimalist approach and a reflexive soul. Although being mostly a techno release, it’s an LP which can be fully enjoyed at home while lying on the armchair.

The LP listening experience could be divided in two parts: the first one starts with the atmospheric opener Enchant, recalling with its rhythm that of nature, which is a key element in the whole release, and reaches its climax with Oceanid.

This last song is the fastest of the whole release and that having the most claustrophobic soul. Here, the hard-hitting beats progressively overwhelm the listener until the perception of reality is lost.

The second half of the LP alternates techno and more electronic outputs. The intimistic Scene, with its refined synths, is followed by the more abstract Delusional Bond, with its connection with nature, by the melancholic Awakening and by the final Immersive Mind, with its slower and syncopated rhythm.

Although Tides definitely includes classic techno outputs, they are not properly “bangers”, as the music here contained is very refined and intimistic. Tides shows the eclectic nature of an artist that will surely impress us again in the future.
