Souls In Bondage – Souls In Bondage EP

souls-in-bondageIf you agree with the idea that each good release should invite you to live your own listening experience with the help of its sounds and its atmosphere, listening to Souls In Bondage first release, released on 6th March on tape on the UK label Sister 9 Recordings, you could find yourself having the feeling to drown into a dark swamp or to wander through the worst suburbs of your city.

Along its approximately 16 minutes of length for 5 songs, the listener will experience this well-crafted alienating and alienated mixture of dark/cold-wave and noise rock sounds in which the cold, sometimes reverberated (Fallen), vocals of the singer and synth player Simona Dellamorte (also known for her own project Feralia Planitia and for being 1/2 of ATRATE), are counterposed to the severe vocals of the singer and guitar player Giulio Pardi (also known for his work with bands such as Debord and Bibi & Beyond). In songs such as Island Universe and Blank there’s a remarkable electro-punk attitude in the use of the drum machine, while in the opener Orbit there are noise injections summoning the work of noise rock pioneers. The ending song Mild at Heart sounds lyrically as the manifest of the release.

With their first EP, these two souls in bondage have given life to a release which is more than a mere sum of their kaleidoscopic music experiences and of their influences.
