Chloe Lula – Ego Sum EP

Published by Alessandro Violante on December 29, 2025

chloe-lula-ego-sumAfter having had classical music studies until the age of 18 as a cello player, Chloe Lula started dedicating to electronic music, leading her to release her music on important “techno” (in a broader meaning) labels such as Aufnahme+Wiedergabe, Tresor, Blueprint and now Mord, with the release of its most recent release to date, Ego Sum EP, released on vinyl on 28th November.

Chloe Lula started its career in the dark electronics world with the techno-EBM’ish Errant Bodies for A+W in 2021, which already showed the approach she would have developed in its following releases: 4/4-centered songs enriched by a dark atmosphere and ambient sounds. With its following works, its songs became increasingly more minimalistic, progressively losing that EBM vibe which characterized its early songs, a sign of the zeitgeist. Its second release, Synergy, released on Tresor, was a collaborative effort with Ireen Amnes (Under My Feet. founder).

Besides its career in techno music (its also a resident deejay at Tresor and works for Resident Advisor), in 2024, the artist released an album for Subtext, entitled Oneiris, in which the classical sounds of cello were mixed with experimental droning music, in this highlighting the artist versatility and the wide range of sonic exploration. That same versatility can be found in the song Tenebrae included in the Under My Feet. V.A. Farewell Notes, released in 2023.

This latest release Ego Sum EP shows both that minimalist dark atmospheric techno approach (Myopia, Sepiatone, Ego Sum, Ninth Knot) and that dark electronics droning sound (Rhythm Zero, Oath). The digital version of the release enriches this artist comprehensive portrait with two other techno outputs, Order of Magnitude and False Absolutes. For lovers of dark atmospheric minimalist techno.
