Fujimine – Threshold of Discomfort

fujimine-threshold-of-discomfortMaybe the Italian project Fujimine could sound new to many readers but, listening to its debut Threshold of Discomfort, self released only in digital version on 7th June, we believe it has a strong potential, and that this 8-tracks release should be released in physical format soon.

There aren’t many informations about this project, but we know it’s showcased this first release in Milan. Talking about Threshold of Discomfort, the title fits very well with its content. Since the opener Constant Altered State, with its artificial synthetical chemical synth lines and its classic Roland TR-909 beats, the listener feels lost in its personal artificial reality, brought nowhere by its sinewaves.

The same atmosphere is perceived along the whole release, but especially in the following HOPE, with its synthetic ambient, its chemical atmosphere and its 90s Warp Records-like beats. Mutation of a Monster introduces techno alternated with IDM beats, plus the alteary mentioned astonishing and synthetical ambient sounds. round1 consists of dark and obscure hard-hitting 909 beats hitting the listener from start to finish with a small nice pause towards the middle of the song.

The second half of the release starts with Unhinged Violence, having abrasive beats and a surreal and chemical atmosphere, plus the already many times mentioned synthetical synth sounds. Banality of Evil is a short minimalist slow breakbeat song having warm sounds, while Ego Magick has a syncopated beat, strongly chemical synth sounds and a cinematographic sound. The closing song When Feeling in One’s Bones has a minimalist and cinematographic sound as well.

This first EP surely shows the kaleidoscopic approach of this interesting and promising project. While patiently waiting for new music, give it a spin.
